Grid-Only System FAQ

What is Grid-Only mode?

Grid-Only mode operates the heat pump like a conventional mini-split using standard 240V AC power. No solar panels are required, and the system provides heating and cooling whenever needed.

When does a Grid-Only system make sense?

Grid-Only mode is ideal for customers who want to install the heat pump now and add solar later, or for applications where solar panels are not practical.

Can I add solar later?

Absolutely. One of the advantages of our solar hybrid AC/DC heat pumps is that they can initially be installed in Grid-Only mode and upgraded later to Hybrid Solar + Grid or even Battery operation if your needs change.

Which electrical protection equipment is required?

Proper electrical protection is strongly recommended to ensure a safe and reliable installation. Typical components include an AC disconnect box, circuit breakers, and surge protection devices.

An AC disconnect box is an essential safety component and is required to activate and maintain the 5-year limited warranty.

Do you offer installation services?

We do not perform installations directly, but we work with a network of certified HVAC installers across North America. You can browse our Installer Locator page to find a partner near you or contact us for help connecting with a qualified installer in your area.

Please note that installation by a certified HVAC technician is required to qualify for the 5-year limited warranty.

What’s included when using the system design tool?

The system design tool automatically includes the core components required for your selected configuration, including the heat pump, outdoor unit mounting support, refrigerant line set, communication cable, an AC disconnect box, a whip kit, and an installation diagram to guide installers through the recommended setup and supplied components.
